It seams I have a leak where the

Power Stering unit goes into the

front of the engine. It is not PS fluid.

There is kinda of a cut out where it mounts

to the frontand there is oil that forms there

and drips. Is that possible, what I mean is

could oil becoming from that area and if so

what does it take to fix and how hard.

Any help appreciated!!!

Thanks HEMI®Dart for the links.

Has anyone actually done this,

And if so what are the pitfalls.

I usually have bad luck when it comes

to seals, fuel lines, plumbing, etc.

I did this exact fix on Sunday, and it took me about 5 hours. It is engine oil that is pumped in there to lube the vaccuum pump. The leak comes from the connection between the two, there is a special seal in there, and I couldn't find one, so I got an o-ring of a size that I was told here( Let me know if you want this size), but this will not be the permanent fix, because it's not right. It did stop leaking though. What I suggest you do is get back to me here, and wait until I take my old seal to the cummins dealer, and a specialty manufacturer. I WILL FIND THE RIGHT SEAL! For myself, and everyone else with this problem. This is not a difficult fix, but you need a manual, or well done directions, which I could provide if you ask for them.

Get back to me.

RedRocket,

You will probably have better luck at a bearing supply house. They can match based on the number off the seal. We have Motion Industries here, they are state wide. If you get me the number, I'll check on it for you.

I replaced the gasket between the vacuume pump and the motor last week and it cured my leaking problem. cost $8. 00 and took about an half an hour to do.

I did the CPFF fix that was on the first link. I had the same leak for months, took it apart and try to just get the adapter that mates the two pumps at Cummin's. The only way they could get it was the hole vaccum pump. So I was just going to let it go was just drips and I knew silicone wouldn't last. Luckly I got to meet CPFF at MGM's he's the man who invented dowell pin jig. We were talking and I mention the leak and that you had to buy the hole pump he went out to his truck and brought in the seal they said you couldn't get. That was over 4000 miles ago. I got my dowell pin fixed and the seal off him all in the same night. Plus 2 things off my mind. This guy knows this motor. Also I just left the old seai in and put the new one in front of it.
