How much torque can the DTT VB & TQ handle?

What years to avoid?

I just retuned from an oil change at Larson Dodge in puyallup wa. On the envoice they said I had a rear seal and pick up tube leaking oil. Cost to fix $690. 00. I know I have an oil leak some where but do not use any oil between changes (every 3 to 5 thousand miles. My truck has 105000 miles on it. The under side of the oil pan and trans is dirty from oil film. My question is has any one else had this problem and how hard would it be for a shade tree mechanic to fix it. Any advise would be appreciated.

David, just went through something like this. Had oil leaking between motor and trans thought it was a main seal, but on closer inspection determined that the oil was coming down the side of the oil pan from the force of the fan. The leak was from the turbo oil return line right behind the oil filter. Leaked about 3 big drops a day. Removed the oil filter, tightened the hose clamps,no more leak. I hope this is what is wrong with you truck. Good Luck!

First course of action is to clean your truck engine and underside of the residual oil film / mess. Suggestions include a car wash with the high pressure wand or a can of degreaser spray and a high pressure washer.

Once you get the underside of the engine clean, drive the truck and check it every couple of days and see if you can determeine where the oil is coming from. If you see oil, look forward and above where the oil is due to the air causing the oil to be sprayed toward the rear of the truck.

It may very well be the crankcase vent tube.
It's amazing how a small amount of oil will look like the Exxon Valdez when sprayed along the bottom of the truck at 70 mph.
