 I have oil leaking on the front drivers side of the truck. I thimk it is comming from the vacuum pump. The oil is all over the power steering pump and the engine mount. Only 73. 000 miles, could it be the dreaded vacuum pump seal I have heard about? Stopped into the dealer today they said they would check it out on thursday. Parts guy says he keeps them in stock. My question is do I demand that they replace the whole pump or will they try to do a no O-ring job on it. :{ Anybody else been through this.

I've replaced several vacuum pump seals with great results. Matter of fact, I replacedthe one on my personal vehicle just a few weeks ago and it's clean as a whistle.

If they follow directions and take thier time, the seal replacement will be all you need.

Go to fixinrams.com. This guy sells a repair kit he guarantees. Comes with the "tool" you need to get the pump apart, a cd with instructions, its easy. Be careful with the dealer, I had a terrible time with my local dealer, they screwed my pump up good, and of course I was just beyond warranty. I demanded they get me another pump and replaced the seals in it and haven't had a problem in over a year. The dealer wanted >$2000 for a dodge pump, when they replaced the one they damaged, they just happen to find one at autopro for $165. You don't need a new pump, just buy the kit from fixingrams, and change the seal.
