Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Yesterday, I noticed an oil spot about 3-4" in diameter in the driveway. My 06 CTD automatic was dripping a fluid (most likely oil) from a crossmember near the engine/trans junction. It seemed to be coming from higher up; there was no sign of leakage on or around the pan. I moved the truck to a different location on the driveway--same dripping. Since the driveway has a slight grade, I moved the truck to level ground in the street. Checked fluid levels--everything was o. k. BTW, all caps and dipsticks were firmly in place. There was no sign of leakage from under the hood. I left the truck in the street for about 5 hours--no further leaking. Later I drove on a quick errand, and parked back in the driveway for the night. This morning--no leak! Your help solving this mystery is greatly appreciated.

Two things... . My blow-by vent will actually drop a spot of oil once every 6-7 months. Knowing this right around the 4th month I can see a very small bit of oil starting to build a drip so I just wipe it, no big deal it's perfectly normal.

The other, I had a leak that was a lot more prevalent when I got my truck. Chased it two months before discovering the factory had two of the oil pan bolts on about hand tight. Tightened them up myself and it hasn't leaked since. Check the two areas I mentioned and get back with us.
