Hi, I have a 95 Ex. Cab 4x4 2500HD with 165,000 on it. I installed a TST PK05 plate at 80,000 and had no troubles with the Cummins until now. I have run Amsoil in all the fluids and filters since 50,000. Recently I noticed an oil spot on my driveway and investigated. It appears to be coming from either the front main crank seal or the timing cover area. Having been around engines since I was but a wee ladthis in itself didn't frighten me, but dissappointed me because I'm the only one I know with a Cummins and have rubbed everyones nose in it... . if you know what I mean. Anyway what scared me was upon opening the hood I noticed a fair amount of oil residue coming from the exhaust manifold gasket on the front-most cylinder. I also noticed what appeared to be dried antifeeze coming from the head where it bolts to the block it the same area. I say appeared to be because it has a rusty appearance and since I switched to the orange 100,000 mile Zerex at 90,000 it's the only thing I can think it would be. The truck used to be my daily driver but had sat for a couple of weeks before I noticed these problems. At first i was affraid to drive the truck but was recently forced into doing so. I checked the coolant and oil levels before during and after the trip and found no significant differences in either levels. There is no residue in the dipstick or radiator cap to indicate oil in water or fice-versa, usually associated with a blown head gasket, no noticeable power loss, or fuel efficiency loss. I am stumped !!!!!!!!
I don't want to drive the truck if I am hurting it but I don't feel like putting a new front seal of timing gasket on in this cold weather either. If it's just a little oil leak I'll nurse it until spring and pay close attention to the fluid levels. Any thoughts or input/suggestions would be appriciated. P. S. I need to replace the Center Carrier Bearing on the driveshaft but my local parts store doesn't list the correct part in thier database... bought one; didn't fit... The correct one from the dealer is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! any help?????????Aftermarket????????? Thanks all... ... . Ed3
