I just go my '99 CTD. I have been seeing oil leaking from the front. I was thinking it was coming from the power steering pump but a closer look pointed me to a hose coming from the front of the engine (breather hose ?) is it normal for oil to be leaking a bit from this hose? I have a friend with a 2000 and his has some kind of catch at the end of his but it is also leaking oil. Do i need to get me one of those catches for my rig and are you suppose to drain it when it gets full? any help would be nice

Earlier trucks do not have the catch bottle. The catch bottle was added on later trucks to stop oil drips. Yes, you have to drain it when you change the oil. It is not needed.

oil leak power

01 dually here - I just discovered how powerful the breather tube usual flow can be when talkin to the service manager at the dealership. He was responding to a question I had about power loss at 80 degrees on a long uphill cruise in the oregon high desert area with 12 foot camper (a/c not on at the time). temp gauge went to highest point in the safe zone part of the gauge. then power would cut out. service manager explained that the oil will mist out of the catch bottle for the breather and the fan will push the oil mist through the radiator. fine bits of "stuff' get caught on the oil misted radiator and decrase cooling capacity of the radiator - foolin the sensors to shut down power. the answer he explained is that every 60,000 miles/100,000 km (for us canadians - world hockey cup holders) is to remove the condensor and radiator to have the units steam cleaned. I'll be havin this done next oil change - when I try to figure out how to end such a cycle. hope this helps.
