Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Oil leaking at vacuum pump mount

I finally got serious about tracing the source of an oil leak I have had for some time. The oil is coming from where the vacuum pump mounts to the gear case. Is the gasket where it mounts all I need to change or is this the result of the internal vacuum pump seal? The two mounting bolts are tight (I'll need a cheater to take them off). If I only need to change the gasket can I do it by removing the two mounting bolts and the bracket, then just slide the whole pump assy to the rear?

Yes, loosen the bolts and slide it back, you'll also have to remove the the bolts that hold the "L" bracket to the ps reservoir/engine block. Sometimes cleaning the gasket and some high temp black silcone/RTV on either side (hit the fasteners threads too) will fix you up. . don't have the part number for the gasket handy. Its less than $20 if memory serves. Hint: a long 15mm box combo and a gear wrench is helpful!



What about the oil line fitting on the bottom of the vacuum pump?



If not, nada on the above get the gasket set from CPPF or other stocking (KDP "dealers").

I have a couple of gaskets for the vacuum pump to housing. If you have trouble getting one, let me know.

Test drove the truck to San Bernardino, then back to Tx via Denver. 3900 miles, 3000 of that towing and part of it towing in the snow (that sucked). No leaks other than the reused banjo fitting gaskets on the fuel filter, and that was just a minor seep. I'm going by the Cummins place in Waco tomorrow. If they don't have the gasket I'll give you a holler. Thanks for the offer.
