Has anyone had engine oil collect on top of their oil filter? This condition has persisted since new. I've made sure their is no doubling of the gasket, as well as a clean and flat mating surface. It appears to be leaking from the turbo oiler line. The dealership replaced the o-ring on the oil line fitting, but its still leaking. Truck has 19K miles. Any thoughts or recommendations is appreciated.

any way you can get a picture of it and post on here... kinda hard to visualize what you're describing. Does it form a drip and cover the oil filter, or is it just oil that sits ontop of the oil filter outside of the o-ring?. Are you losing oil?.

If its NOT from oiling the o-ring during a filter change, I would suspect the sealing are of the filter base to be damaged. As you may already know, the factory WAY overtightens the filter that is on if when new. Who did the initial P/M, dealership, quickie lube????

I would remove the filter, let it completely finish dripping, clean it off with some contact cleaner of brake clean. Then use a flashlight and check for a crack or other imperfection in the sealing surface.

Good luck and post back what you find... Others may experience the same issue. .

The dealership replaced the oil/filter the first time, I changed it the 2nd time(and that's when I noticed the leak). I took the truck in to the dealership after 4000 miles on the 2nd oil change to address the leak, and they changed the o-ring on the turbo oiler line, as well as a filter/oil change. It continues to leak. It is a small amt. of oil leakage, spilling over the sides of the canister and beginning to drip on the tie rod. More annoyance than major Valdez problem. I'm out of state currently, and the truck is in the garage at home... . so no pics. No noticable loss of oil measured on dipstick. I'm thinking of having the dealership replace the turbo oiler line when I bring it back in. Doesn't look like cracked filter base.

I would talk to Bright Boy and have him take it in to the dealer for repair that way when your back in town it is ready to go for you, and he can help with picture as well.

Sounds great to me. He knows where all the keys are. Wonder what that'll cost me? Hopefully a free lunch will do it... ... . a hot dog and soda at Ted's gas station.

I have been fighting the same problem for months now. Did you find a solution?

Thanks.

Took it back to the dealer and they replaced the entire line under warranty. Prior to their ordering the part, I mentioned that I didn't want a turbo fire as a result of the leaky line :). It's been dry since the replacement, have 3k miles on it since the repair.
