A couple quick question for you 12 valve guru's. Can the oil pan be removed without lifting the engine?

I've heard that the engine can be 'tilted' on it's side... . by lifting it after removing the engine mounts on one side... . allowing you to remove the oil pan.

I've never done it, just heard about it.

The hold up for me was the transmission. You could not slide the pan back away from the motor b/c it hit transmission. I don't believe you could tilt the motor and get it out as by rotating you get the A-Arms and suspension in the way rather than cross member.

Again, I've never done this... . or even looked under there and tried do figure out how to do this... . but if I remember correctly, there is a frame crossmember on the 4x4 trucks (I've never even worked on a 2x4 CTD... ) that isn't going to move whether you let the front differential droop or not... .
