Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil pan?

Last night I was under my truck and on the oil pan there was this red plastic piece on the side of it. It was towards the rear of the truck. Just curious what this may be.

If it is wahat I think it is ; it's a protective sleeve for the threads on a stud for the transmission cooling lines if so equiped. Thomas



I may VERY well be wrong, but that is my guess ????
