Oil pressure gauge for fuel pressure gauge ?

I have a never used oil pressure gauge . Can it also be used as a fuel pressure gauge? I have a tapped banjo bolt at the exit from the fuel filter. If the oil pressure gauge will work does it just have to be hooked into the fitting at the banjo bolt or am I missing something?

The scale is 0 to 100 lbs but the lower pressures are pretty clear.

My pressure at idle is 15,at 2k rpm it's 10. If you can trust your guage to read accurate at the lower #'s then give it a try. I have a friend who has a sensor and idiot light set to go off at < 5lbs and he's ok with that.

I'd only use it for a temporary setup til I could get a regular FP gauge. Accracy shouldnt be affected, though your angle of view could make a difference of a few psi.

Accuracy is an issue. Gauges are normally rated as a percentage of full scale. A 100psi guage with 5% accuracy could be off 5psi at the low end as well as the high end and would be worthless in the 5-10psi range.

Ditto to KOG, I have found analog guages inaccurate at the bottom and top 10 percent of the sweep as well.

Pressure is pressure. Since with the stock setup pressure might only be 3psi, accuracy will be an issue.

Worthless. It will read way off. In fact, it won't even register but a pound or so.



Try a 100 psi boost gauge. If you normally see 30 psi the 100 pound gauge will move "maybe" 10 pounds.

Run an open hose into the cab. seal the end with your thumb. If you can't keep it sealed at cruise speed your pressure is good. If nothing dribbles out during a WOT run, then your pressure is not good. :-laf
