I've always hated the idiot light functioning of the stock oil pressure 'gauge' and I'd like to replace it with one that will give me a real number. Has anyone done this? How did you do it? I'll be using a three gauge pod on the A-pillar. I'd like to leave the stock gauge functioning and add the second readout.

I would think you could put a tee in where the stock gage sender went and screw it into the tee and the other tee put the mechanical gage fitting in. I did this long, long, long time ago on something I had and had both of them working.

isn't there 2 test ports on top of the lube oil filter mounting pad? [1/8" or 1/4" npt] i was thinking of using them for temp/pressure when i get gauges.....

Check this out:

Oil Pressure Tap Location

I used a Swagelok 1/8 NPT coupler to bring the pressure sending unit high enough to clear the pipe that runs between the two oil ports. Later, I'm installing an oil temperature gauge in the same port, so I'll use a couple couplers and a street tee to fit both gauges. The port that's closest to the engine is too crowded by the aforementioned pipe to be useful.

I think it's a worthwhile gauge!
