My oil pressure gauge started acting goofy this afternoon after an oil change. About 5 miles after I'd changed the oil , the gauge needle went up to the tick mark above the 40 psi mark. It's very steady there regardless of engine speed. In fact, it now goes there when I turn on the switch even before I start the motor. I used my Smarty to check for codes. I got two. One for low oil pressure. I cleared that. The second was a P-1693 which won't clear. The motor seems to be operating like nothing has happened. Any one have insight into this kind of problem?

You did verify that you have oil right? Two sealing rings on the oil filter is not a good thing!! Dad's truck did the same thing and his oil press sender was bad, his did go to 0 psi but my guess is you had a reflash about the send, you may have asked for it or they may have just done it.

the other code is probably a logged code on the ecm. that is why you can not clear it. I would assume for low oil pressure. you can test the sender, im not sure how, lol, but im sure you can find it online, and I would be willing to bet that it is bad. asuming the oil is full.

Yes I have oil. I did check for leaks at the filter & drain plug at the time of the change. The only reflash I've had is in the beta testing of the new Smarty. It did enable the 3 cylinder high idle which I had never had before, but I've been changing programs almost daily for a week & the problem only appeared this afternoon.
