Every since it got warmer (summer) I've been experiencing low oil pressure alarms. Any where from idle to 30 mph (decerating) like coming to a stop or turn. The oil pessure gauge (reading about 30 PSI) drops to zero and an alarm on the dash comes on. The engine sounds fine and in a couple seconds the gauge goes back to 30 psi and the alarm goes out. Any ideas or similar experiences out there? Normal running oil pressure is in the area of 60+ psi. The truck has 89K on the clock

Yep, I have one to do just that. I went to the local DC stealer (no joke this time) and they wanted $167 for the sender. I hell I didn't think the oil pump would cost that much. I found out that there is a Cummins distrubitor in the area and bought it for $50 (included shipping). Just haven't installed it yet. Too many projects and damn work keeps getting in the way.

Thanks

My friend just got his 1999 out of the shop. His truck would go about 6 miles and his oil pressure would drop to zero and his check engine lite would come on,the motor would keep running as if nothing was wrong and it sounded like normal. The dealer put in a new oil psi. senser $225 R&R
