Friend has a 91 12 valve that has an oil pressure problem. After driving at hi way speeds, 60-70 mph, slow down put transmission in neutral, the oil light comes on and the oil pressure gauge drops to zero. when he shut down the truck, restarted, oil pressure is back to normal. Oil and filter have just been changed. It did it before the oil change also. The engine did not sound as if there was no oil flow. Drove truck another 50 miles without any indication of a drop in oil pressure until he stopped again. ????

Engine has 142,000 miles on it.

yep.......bet it's the sending unit

I happened to me too! Scared the beegeebers outta me. The archives got me the info I needed for a DIY fix. Very easy and didn't take long. Hold on to your wallet when at the dealer parts counter!

IF IT'S ANY CONSOLATION, I WENT THROUGH THE SAME GRIEF RECENTLY, AND THE OIL SENDER WAS THE CULPRIT. I BOUGHT MINE AT THE DEALER, BUT YOU CAN GET AFTERMARKET PRETTY EASY, ABOUT 15MINS. TO CHANGE OUT, ONCE YOU FIND THE OLD ONE, THAT IS!!
