Oil Pressure Question

Ok,



First off, sorry if this is too newbie of a question, I tried a search but haven't quite figured out how to do a search for "oil" pressure when it won't accept a search for words less than 4 letters.....



My questions pertains to starting up the engine... . I'm curious how long it should take the oil pressure to build or show up on the oil pressure gauge,,



when I start the truck the gauge just sits there for a few seconds before the oil pressure gauge reacts showing pressure..... is this normal, or should it show pressure right away?



Just a paranoid newbie trying to make sure my truck is acting correctly and getting to know it better. .



and any help on performing searches with small words would be helpful too

The short answer on the search engine is that it sucks, until some new software comes out the TDR admin is basically hamstrung.



The oil pressure is normal. Mine takes up to 7 or 8 seconds to come off the peg at 0 with 15-40 oil when it has not been plugged in. With it 50 and above it takes 3 to 5 seconds to come off the peg. Hope this helps.

What LSMITH said, it takes a few seconds which is normal for these trucks.

I appreciate the quick response, now I'll be able to sleep tonight , I figured it was prob. normal, but just felt better asking until I get a better handle on things.
