Fellow Diesel Enthusiasts,

I am looking for a place to mount an electric oil temp sensor other than the top of the oil filter housing... I have already "clobbered" that one with an oil pressure sender unit.

Any thoughts on how to utilize an existing (and possibly hidden) port? Try a tee fitting on the current stock sender, perhaps?

Thanx,

Mr. Guage Happy

I'm looking for the same thing. I want to monitor the oil pressure and the oil temp. I put my temp in the filter because I thought the temp there would be more representative of the engine oil temp due to the flow rate and location.

I have been playing with the idea of using the turbo oil line for pressure. I have taken out the turbo line fitting in the filter and I think the threads are 3/8 18, but not sure. IF anyone knows what these threads are for sure I would like to know.

I was going to replace the filter turbo fitting with a x/x xx to a JIC 37* 6, then to a Aeroquip AN6 / AN6 fuel pressure port adapter (1/8"npt) then on to the turbo with a JIC 37* 6 to the x/x xx in the turbo. The presure port here should not restrict the turbo oil cooling flow in any way.

I have not been able to think of any other fairly accessible location.

Sure could use some ideas though.
