Archived Oil pressure sensor/sender torque spec

I'm trying to replace the oil pressure sensor/sender unit on my 98 12 valve diesel. It is located in the tuffest spot to get to. I'm waiting again for another sender from Napa due to so far the ones they've gotten doesn't match my connection plug. So the truck is broken down till I get it right.

So I was wondering if anybody has the torque spec after I get it in. My factory manual says 144 Ft. Lbs. This seems way excessive.

I could see 144 inch pounds as it is only 1/8" NPT fitting.

Please let me know what it is if there is another torque. I want to be done with this pain. I'm reaching it thru the wheel well along side the shock tower with a 1 1/8" deep socket and a lot of extensions.

The new senders has red sealant on the threads. Should I also add some teflon tape? I'm suppose to go on a long trip tomorrow with "Big Red".

Herb - I'd use some t-flon tape or the like just to be sure. As far as the tq spec of 144# - I'd make it as tight as you feel comfortable with 1/8" npt doesn't take much "umph" as the threads are pitched. Start her up, check for leaks, drive around the neighborhood for a while to bring up to normal temps, check for leaks then fo-get-ta-bout-tit. Just bring a 1/8" npt plug and the tools needed with you. Check it every fuel stop till you are comfortable. You should be fine. 144# is f/n nuts! MHO
