I just bought a 2001 2500 ext. cab. She has 108,000 miles on her. My trip back home from picking her up was approx. 265 miles, about 15 miles from home my check gages light came on. I had noticed my oil pressure gage read lower as the trip progressed. now the oil pressure gage read nothing. I stopped the truck , checked oil level it was ok and still very clear. started truck backup & although oil pressure was low ( approx. 30psi) she stayed there. I changed oil & filter next day & oil pressure is approx. 50 psi under throttle ie driving approx 55 to 60. have put approx 300 more miles & pressure stays where it should be. (I think approx. 20 @ idle, 50 under throttle) was this a fluke, possible wrong oil put in @ last oil change or is this the sign of a normal problem with this year truck.

Thanks

My bet is a failing sending unit... my dad had to replace his at one point...

FWIW, buy it at Cummins and save your money... I think it was $28 from Cummins and $148 from DCX.
