If it was worn mains, and the motor wasn't knocking, the crank journals were probaly ok and they could have rolled a new set of bearings in for a fraction of the cost of an engine.

No I did not. I would like to know what to watch for so this problem is not repeated in the future.

Like what are the signs of a fuel injector going bad?

All of the things you said yours weren't doing. I'm still skeptical about the diluted oil causing a problem. You said the level was normal. Doesn't add up.

These engines are allowed up to 5% dilution from Cummins, it's the number the 6. 7 oil change is based on.

5% of 12 qts is . 6 qts. Anything more than that should be noticeable.

Got a question... . I think it was Shadrack who said he put "real gauges" on the Pillar in his truck since the dash gauge is a Phony.

Q: Can install a real guage in my dash... in place of the phony? So as not to have to put it on a pillar or other locatoin and at the same time have a worthless gauge still in my dash. . ?

I can not even imagine why an "engineer" (hopefully "EX") would want to have a phony gauge put into a dash in such a manly truck. Even as I type this reply... he is probably at Starbucks getting sprinkles added to his Latte and relishing the thought of watching tonight's episode of "Say yes to the dress!"

I don't have the oil pressure gauge module installed yet, but I will be adding it to my Navigation screen as soon as I can get the software revised on my Dashcommand App. I have not named them yet, and its hard to see the labels, but the two gauge skin shows Boost and EGT, the six gauge skin shows four fluid temperature gauges and then the two smaller size in the middle are the EGT and Boost just smaller. I can switch to the most important two gauge skin when climbing grades heavy.

Well you have to purchase several items. I first purchased a Lockpick for my Nav, because Dodge didn't provide an AUX jack with the REC Nav radio and I wanted to use my iPhone for my music. The Lockpick also has a video input that utilizes the DVD/camera input in the rear. http://www.coastaletech.com/REC_LOCKPICK.htm The second item I purchased was the Kiwi wifi setup and downloaded the Dashcommand App. I soon discovered that when I had my iPhone connected to the Nav radio it automatically switched the video to whatever the Dashcommand had on the iPhone, so now I could use a larger screen rather than the smaller iPhone screen. Third, I purchased the necessary modules that can be connected to the Kiwi wifi and paid for a couple Skins to be developed for the PLX system. When it was all said and done I paid around $700. 00, but your cost to have the same setup would be around $500. 00. The Skins are free now on DashXL.net. http://www.dashxl.net/dashboard.php?dashboard=557 & http://www.plxdevices.com/product_info.php?id=GSSTWIFI

My intentions were not what I ended up with, but soon discovered several advantages to all of the devices connected. The Kiwi wifi was for reading and removing trouble codes, the Lockpick was for my music library and I soon discovered the full potential with all of them connected.

It seems to be a high price but if you add the analogue gauges and pillars and the little room for them, then the cost of a quality code reader and remover, its cheaper, but now I have all the room on my dash and a code reader/remover as well as the added benefit of watching movies and unlocking the Nav system when driving.

Uhhmmmm... . Seeing how I just got a "ticket"... . (read 'another government tax') for not talking on my cell phone, but for having it "in my hand" while driving... . I will have to avoid the "watching movies" part of that gizmo. But, seeing how, if I owned a high end BMW or Merc. I could navigate, scroll through social media and the like on my center console, I guess the moving watching part would be ok with the Tax Collectors who carry guns.

Thank you!

After pricing out the gauges and the dash mounts and the time it would take to do that... Your screen thing sounds pretty good!

lately all of my close calls have been with people with cell phones in their hands. And not all driving just trying to cross the street.

No need to hold the phone, Ram mounts are in my opinion are top quality, as you can see in the pic its mounted on the dash, and is as sturdy as using any OEM devise on the dash.
