Jacob082,

The LE oil is much better in both wear and oxidation. The specific wear rate will be lower with the LE oil even in short oil drains. The oxidation resistance shows up over time. So the LE would look better and have less oxidation in longer oil drains than the PB-2000 would.

I recommend against ANY oil additives.

How do we know this, Kevin? Because you say so? Are there any independent data to back up your statements? There have been lots of posts of oil analysis results on this board. Haven't seen any from anyone using LE yet.

I'm not an Amsoil dealer and don't want to start an oil war. Just want the facts.

Oil Man,

Wondered if you everheard of anyone trying to clean up long used oil with a very small purifier, for instance a "Spinner" set up in a shop. I do know that purifiers from "Alfa-Laval and "Westaphalia" are outrageous cost but thought there might be a way of running a tiny set up at home for say, 20 Litres at a time?

oil

I have close to 2 million miles on my Freightliners using rotella t , with no complaints. About a year and a half ago I switched to Rotella synthetic blend. I liked it the best. Engine starts good in winter, and cost is not that much more than Rotella T.

Has anyone else used the Rotella syn. blend 10-40 ? I now use it in everything I own from cars to lawnmowers.

Where is Steve?

He has an LE report with an Amsoil By-Pass filter, can't get more open minded than that!!

With the LE super ultra high wear protection, and the Amsoil by-pass mega fine filtration, he should have a brand new engine by now!!

Gene

Amsoil 5W-30 RULES!

Lee,

E-mail me and I'll give you my phone # to go over some of the testing data.

Hey OIl Man why are you against oil additives/supplements? Power Service seems to make a good oil supplement with more soot control and it reduces friction plus so more things. I just figured that the PB2000 with PS oil supp. would work just as good or better than LE oil. Please give me your opinion on oil supplements.

Kevin -- You sell LE and only LE. I'm trolling for unbiased data from TDR members who use your oil. I'll draw my own conclusions. I know that LE makes great gear oils for industrial applications. I'd really like to know if a conventional base stock can perform in a crankcase as well or better than the top of the line synthetics. On another board you suggested that I should try you product myself and do oil analysis. I'm not going to do that unless there is a compelling reason to do so. I broke my engine in on Delo 400 and then tried Delvac 1 and Amsoil. I made these choices after reading oil analysis results from other people, not on the basis of propaganda from the companies. My own oil analyses confirmed that these are really good oils. I know enough about tibology and science in general to understand the deficiencies in the test data presented by oil companies. They all select the data that make their product look the best and don't present the entire story. That's just intelligent marketing strategy. But the only thing that really matters is how the oils hold up in real world usage under different types of driving conditions and drain intervals. Tear down data obtained under controlled conditions is the best indicator of oil performance, but it is extremely hard to find results that are actually comparable. So oil analysis is the next best thing. Not performance specs on new oil fresh out of the bottle, but after X number of miles or hour in an engine. If several people on this board can show me analysis results that indicate superior performance by LE oil, you may just have a new customer.

Jacob082,

First of all if you use a good oil then you don't need any aftermarket oil additive.

Second I don't know what is in the additive that you talk about but there are only a few choices for additives.

1. sulfur phos

2. Chlorinated wax

3. Teflon

4. solvent

5. Moly

6. Graphite

7. or just more of everything added together.

None of these types of additives will help with makeing an oil better. Some will actually create acids and eat at the light metals like your bearings. Some in boosted amounts will promote cam wear and one just does not have any load ability and plugs up filters.

Kevin

Yes Lee I do sell LE and only LE however I have recommended other oils when the situation permits or if I think that another company makes a better product. I am one guy that is somewhat like you. I don't take my own companie's word as the gospel. I send oils out for testing myself and if they come back with the same results then I say for sure that I can recommend the oil for a situation.

Not all guys that sell oil just sell oil you know. Some of us actually live eat and breath oil. I've made the study of oils and their effect on wear, coeffecient of friction, heat, and oxidation my life. So please don't mix me up with any other guy that might just want to sell oil.

I could give you some oil analysis results from guys in the TDR and that's why I suggested that you e-mail me. However you seem to want to do it yourself. I guess you're not so much different than I am.

Kevin

Jacob082,

Looking at the page is not enough. I have to see an analysis to see what is in it. Not what they say it does.

As for the oils LE and PB 2000 just e-mail me so I'll have you'rs to send it to you.
