SCOTT: The Cummins that powers your 2000 Dodge appears to be wearing well at 216,400 miles. The universal averages for wear metals in oil from the ISB 5. 9L diesel are based on a 6,800 mile oil run. Your oil was in use for about that long and the wear metals in it read at or below those averages and that's a good sign of normal wearing parts. The TBN was 7. 3, which means the oil had plenty of active additive remaining. When it reads 1. 0, it's almost gone. Air and oil filtration (see silicon & insolubles) were normal. Try going

7,500-8,000 miles on the next oil.

AFoulk,

No sir API CJ-4.

Bigdaddy,

Contact Blackstone they will send a kit for free. The test is around $22. 50 and the TBN test is an additional $10 I believe. The TBN measures the amount of active additive left in the oil.
