Just got back from a 9500 mile trip. Started to notice slight oil seapage at the head gasket on the rear bank and towards the front. Not anti freeze but oil. Does seem to be coming from the head gasket area. This is a new one on me! I just cleaned the block and fired it up sure nuff, oil seapage. Any ideas ? My local deisel shop is closed till monday. If its a bad head I may just buy another motor. Ouch !! TIA, Mike

Mike the early ram heads(89-90) have had a few problems. I believe the head was improved in 91 or 92. Are you sure it's not just a valve cover leaking? Good luck.

Thanks. Not a v/c problem. After cleaning I fired it up and can see the oil being blown out from the head gasket. If this a serious problem <$1000. 00> or more I'll just replace the motor with a recon or new unit. Everything else is new. Not looking too good tho. In a 7500 mile oil change it only used 1/2 quart normally change the oil at 3500 miles but I was a busy boy last 10 days. Thanks again, Mike Got a oil sample to be looked at as well

Lt, Its still being run as hard as it can. I have a Cummins recon 5. 9 that should be in Fla by now. I'm in Bama getting loaded for Southern Cali as I type. Last few loads have been light weight ones @ 12-16,000 lbs on the trailer insteed of the normal 21,000 lbs. The head still leaks no more/no less. But still runs good. I just decided to replace the motor and be done with it. Thanks & best regards, Mike
