I'm having trouble removeing the leaking oil sending unit from my 96. Haven't found a tool in my tool box that will fit it. What size is it, Metric or US? Do you have to remove the power steering pump?
Thanks for any help.

Here is how I replaced the sender on my 96. I bought a 1 & 1/16 "sender socket" from the parts store for about $10. I used a hole saw (about 1") to cut a semi-circle out of the edge of the left wheel well liner about where the top of the spring and the bottom of the shock tower meet. Then, using a couple of extentions on your ratchet, insert the extentions through the cutout, attach the socket and remove the sender by ratcheting from the wheel well.
There might be a better way but that's what I came up with at the time.

Thanks, I got the job done. Sure helps to have the right tools. I didn't know they even made a tool for that job. Now the next project is replace the fuel sending unit! Haven't figured out how I'm going to get the fuel lines off, I guess you pinch them and pull them off. Thanks again for your help.

The Dodge engineers chose to use a 'custom' sending unit that will require a special deep socket. A standard deep socket will not fit due to the oval electrical connector configuration at the top of the sending unit. I found a socket at Carquest for 7 or 8 dollars that worked.

Seems to me that a standard Echlin sending unit would have been fine, should cost about 12$ not the 45$ that DC wanted for there custom one.

I replaced mine about a year ago.
