Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) oil sending unit

I still want to know, if the ecm was reflashed to turn my pressure gauge into a dummy, will putting in a new sensor work as it should or do i need to get rid of the flash?

2/15/10--- just ordered one, Cummins, $99. 44 plus shipping. not stock at the local Cummins, had to ship from distribution center.
