As stated by some above, the simple fix for this, and no residue on your engine, is to extend the breather hose down to the track bar and tie it off, do away with the bottle completely. I would caution those in the colder climates to keep the hose extension real short, just long enough to reach the front track bar. My first re-route had the hose going back by the transmission. A very reliable source warned me of the possibilty of a line freeze and blown engine seals, which is why my extension is now short and straight down. I use Rotella and never have a smell in the cab and the engine is spotless, minus a little dust
. If you look where your blow by bottle is located, you will see that the oily mist that eminates is right next to the fan.
I remember my first ride in the truck on the way home from the dealer, I had a visible fog coming through the vents. Now, all the smell is outside, where it belongs.
Forgot to mention, I kinda like the smell of fresh Rotella coming through the blow by in the morning, reminds me of..... VICTORY!!!
