As stated by some above, the simple fix for this, and no residue on your engine, is to extend the breather hose down to the track bar and tie it off, do away with the bottle completely. I would caution those in the colder climates to keep the hose extension real short, just long enough to reach the front track bar. My first re-route had the hose going back by the transmission. A very reliable source warned me of the possibilty of a line freeze and blown engine seals, which is why my extension is now short and straight down. I use Rotella and never have a smell in the cab and the engine is spotless, minus a little dust ;) . If you look where your blow by bottle is located, you will see that the oily mist that eminates is right next to the fan.

I remember my first ride in the truck on the way home from the dealer, I had a visible fog coming through the vents. Now, all the smell is outside, where it belongs.

Forgot to mention, I kinda like the smell of fresh Rotella coming through the blow by in the morning, reminds me of..... VICTORY!!!

also, to those folks with the auto and transmission cooling. . the bottle was diredtly above the transmission return line from the cooler. there is oil coming out of the aspirin bottle. it drips on the return line. when i installed my aux transmission filter, i thought the return line was leaking--saw the oil on the connection. only when i went looking for the bottle did i realize the oil on hte line was from the blow by bopttle, which has holes in it 3/4 of the way up for venting.

Some people don't like it, I kinda do(he-he).
I found that if don't pour the oil in that fast from the 1 gallon bottle, the smell dosent last as long.
I thought about haging oil jug above mtr, with a valve in line to control speed of flow. This gives me extra time to check intercooler hose clamps, drink a B###, ect.
I just changed mine last night, the smell will last @ 200 miles at most. If I pour it in fast, it lasts @ 400-500.

Scott, I thought that you had routed that blowby tube directly into your cab???

Well... . I do have that top secret secondary re-route going into the pass. side vents, activated only when my truck detects the possibilty of a M-I-L ride along  :D
