Oil stop leak additive?

Here's a question for all you Amsoil guys (and anyone else, except don't tell me to quit using Amsoil . . . )



I'm getting a pretty bad oil leak up front from either the oil pan gasket, or worse, the timing gear case/engine block gasket. :{ I DON'T want to have to replace either of those if at all possible, so I'm wondering, has anyone had any experience with those "stop leak" oil additives that are supposed to rejuvenate the gaskets and seals? Do they degrade the oil, or cause other problems in the pump or galleries? Would I be negating any benefit of running synthetic by putting that stuff in?



I tabbed the KDP a year and a half ago, so I know it isn't a cracked case or anything like that. I think it is just the result of running straight synthetic Amsoil on 130k gaskets.

No seriously try lookin at the vacuum pump those like to leak alot mine is leaking it just isnt leaking enough for me to justify fixing it the vacuum pump is right by the power steering pump.

Thanks for the suggestion. What is the best way to check for leaks from the vacuum pump? I have looked at that before, but wasn't able to identify a leak from there.

Best way is with an inspecton mirror and a fiber light to get in close for a look see. The hardest part of the whole deal is getting the powersteering pump and vacuum pump out. They can be removed as a single unit (prefered) and then broken apart on the bench.



If you want to confirm the leak, pressure wash off the oil and dirt around the pump and block and the pan on that side. Warm it up, go for a short drive to dry it out and then take another close look. It will be apparent
