is there any place on the turbo where we could put in the oil temp sensor? seems that it would be a better way to monitor when to shut down than just EGTs...

just thinking "out loud"

You should have an extra oil port next to the turbo feed line off the top of the oil filter unit. You will find that your oil temp will run anywhere from 10 to 15* hotter than your water temp and if you are towing on a steep grade you will see oil temps go up into the 245* range. This is the prime reason I run synthetic oils. ;)

I think the oil moves too fast through the turbo to be use it for the turbo temp. I have a oil temp guage in the port on the filter housing, works pretty well, the oil temp stays within a 15 degree range regardless of load or ambient temp, once warmed up, the range is about 220 to 235, I have not seen it go any higher than that, hardest I have pushed it was a 6 mile hill in 3rd at 2500 rpm, 90 degrees out, pulling 10k lbs, maybe it goes higher with more of a load.

thanks for the info. It was just a thought. I still need to install my oil temp and fuel pressure gauge. just haven't been able to work the courage to tear into it (over the mirror setup)
