Oil Testing (transmission)

I am looking for a convenient source to test the oil in my GETRAG.



Here's the story:



I had a trip breakdown last October. A midwest Dodge dealer installed a rebuilt GETRAG and put GM 75W-140 synthetic oil in it . I now know this is bad. I just drained it and replaced with Mobil1 5W-30. The drained oil has roughly 3K miles and looks like gold (brass?)paint :{ . I'd like to get it analyzed.

Geno's garage sells Oil Analysis kits that can be used for this purpose. You might be allright with only 3000 miles but I would deffinetly get the fluid tested and hold the dealer responsible for the results. Good luck

Try L F Powers in Waterbury. I bought some kits from them a few years ago. Hopefully they still offer this service.

You should also be able to buy from Fleetpride in Waterbury. I would think they would have something.
