I know this topic has been discussed many times before but I can't seem to find all the answers I'm looking for. I'm finally going to put Amsoil (15W-40W Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine) in the crankcase after running Delo 400 15W-40W all it's life (37,000 miles). I was wondering if there was anything special I need to do for the switch and what oil filter would be the best to run (still have the stock set-up, no by-pass filter yet). Does anyone have any experience/opinion with the Fleetguard Strapore vs. the standard Fleetgard oil filter? I have been using Mopar filters the whole time but since I'm changing oil I may as well try a better filter? I figure since Fleetguard and Cummins are one of the same the filter should be more then adaquate, right?
Also, I don't have any experince with synthetic oils prior to this but I do know that I don't have to change the oil as often as I did running Delo (every 4000-5000) right? What's the BESTway to check the condition of my oil?
