I'd like to know how much oil I need to buy to refill both my differentials. Can't seem to find the info in the owner's manual. I run a 2007 1-ton 4x4, 6-speed.

Anybody got an answer for me?

Thanks

Gerry

With the stock diff covers, you need approx 3 qts in the front diff and approx 4 qts in the rear diff. Manual states to use 75W-90 synthetic in both. I use 75W-90 in the front and 75W-140 in the rear because I tow heavy 100% of the time.

The gaskets are reusable (probably up to 3x) and you should torque the 8mm bolts to approx 20 ft-lbs in a criss-cross pattern in at least 2 or 3 steps (10, 15, 20 ft-lbs) Manual states 30 ft-lbs, but an 8mm grade 10. 8 bolt can break at 25 ft-lbs.

Hope this helps,

Louis

Re: Differential Oil

Thanks for the info, Louis. It was just what I needed. I think I'll refill with Amsoil.

I too pull a 5th wheel RV with my mighty Dodge. It's a 36th Alpenlite which we take into the southern desert for 6 months every winter. With fuel price being what they are, there should be no problem finding parking spots this winter.
