I understand that the oil gauze filters i. e. amsoil, k&n etc flow more air. But at what cost. When I was a boy all of the farm equipment used oil bath air filters. Then Donaldson came out with a pleated paper air filter and every manufacturer changed to paper. The paper was touted as being much more efficent and clean than the old oil bath. Now I know there is a fundimental differnce between the old oil bath and the oily gauze but it seems to me we are taking a GIANT step backward. Less filtering may be ok for some but those of us that pull for a living seldom see ideal conditions. There is also the issue of oil contamination of the charge air cooler. The more oil on the inside of your intercooler the less efficancy. The charg cooler being one of the most important reasons that the little 5. 9 is able to produce the power it does. I would like a explanation from someone that has access to test equipment. Untell then I remain skeptical. And still using the K&N.
