spicer part number for the u-bolts is 3-94-18x hope this helps. if you try to follow the strap holes you will be doing a s**t job. you will put the u bolts in a bind and pinch the u-joint cap doing more damage then good.

The u-bolts can be adjusted (and I did) so they align right up and "slide in and back out". As far as pinching the cups - that depends on who's tightening the "nuts". Like everything in life there's a pro and con to any, as you call it, "s**t job". Where there's a will there's a way and to each his own.

lol have fun with that.

Dude, this site is about sharing info and such. Everything I've done with and to my truck has worked well and is still working well. I wouldn't suggest that someone try something if it didn't. In fact if something I did didn't work out I'd share that too, so others don't make the same mistake = "sharing of info".

I'm not looking to make like I'm some fancy truck Smith, or something, just an average guy trying to have some fun, save a few bucks, make some good modifications, learn a few things and share the trip along the way, good bad or indifferent. There's not enough time in life for sarcasm, it's counterproductive, childish and a nuisance:{

And, I always have fun, even when I'm not. ;) Like I said before to each his own and S'all Gud.

I'm sure whatever Thumper comes up/does with his situation with will work out well for him.

Peace

Cold forged non-greaseable Spicer Ujoints are nearly impossible to beat for price, strength, and durability.

Tom Woods Ujoints have also worked well for me in a couple of custom driveshafts that I've used in the past.

223,000 miles just replaced 1 u joint and carrier bearing this past summer. Have replaced a few front axles due to the joint failing and twisting the yokes so bad that a new ujoint would not go in. Or is it that the yokes twisted causing the joint to fail.....

When I had my rear driveshaft rebuilt over the summer, I was told that at least 60% of Spicer stuff is now made off shore, so all may not be as it appears. I had mine rebuilt with NEAPCO u-joints which are made in the USA. Time will tell if they hold up or it was just a sales pitch.....

That's cool. My mistake I guess I thought the comment: "if you try to follow the strap holes you will be doing a s**t job. you will put the u bolts in a bind and pinch the u-joint cap doing more damage then good. ", meant that I did was a s**t job?

Probably because I drilled out the strap holes.

Anyway, it's all good so life goes on.

No problems. ;)
