I would say to make sure you blow out around all the injectors to clean the trash out and be sure to torque the hold down nuts after th injectors are in , if I remember right, to 50 lbs. Not a bad job at all.

okay, get a injector puller. #5 and 6 are tough because of the added heat in those cylenders, and the cowl sits right over them. Get a injectors kit, with washers. Take the lines off and don't bend any of them!. take the lines off three at a time. Take off overflow line and don't bend it at all. Use the thin washers on the injectors. Torque the injector to 55 lbs. even though the book says 22 lbs. The thin washers don't seal at 22. Never-seaze the injectors before putting them in. Put never seize on the bottom, so the washer sticks when putting them in. Make sure all washers are on the old injectors when u pull them out. Snug tighten the overflow bolts and don't over tighten and pull the threads, ... . make sure the bolts are in straight!! Tighten the lines on the pump, but finger tighten the ones on the injectors til the lines fill up with diesel. Bend the overflow washers a little before u put them on the line, this helps them stay on. Need to advance timing to 16 to make 370's work.

Washing around the injectors and the injection pump is a good idea to help keep crud out the the fuel system. A homemade inj. puller is very handy for numbers 5 & 6. Make sure that the old copper washers are removed from the head before installing new injectors. Some times they stay down in the hole. A dab of grease will help hold the . 020 thou thick washers onto the new injectors. Remove and install the inj. pump lines as a whole unit. You're gonna love the power.

44 lbs... . 50 whatever, if your not using a puller a M14x1. 5 pitch nut works wonders with a set of vise grips, or a pry bar.

does the washers come with the injs or do i need to get them and what will happen if i dont advance the timming
Your EGTs will be extremely hot if you don't advance the timing. YOu can still fire the engine up and run it but if you step on it for a hard accel your EGTs will go through the roof. The timing advancement will burn that added fuel better and reduce the EGTs to a safe range. :D

44 pounds. Joe D told me that 50 fp can crack the injector body.

When you are cleaning the holes--a chamber or bore brush works wonders. You'll need a mirror to inspect the back two.

Not to sound negative but unless you have the proper tools and the knowledge of someone nearby that's done the timing before I would leave it to someone else to do. I'm still trying to find someone in NE NC to do mine.

Your lugnuts will work fine for this, and if you want to get fancy cut a short piece of 3/4" pcv pipe to put under the nut - viola! You made an injector puller!

Where is the EGT probe located? 850* with 370s sounds very low, even if probe is mounted post turbo.

I don't like to run mine above 1250, pre turbo, although I have gone to 1400 for a few seconds. I guess 900 @ 2000 rpm on level ground and no load is about right. Need to check what it is at WOT, uphill.
