OK Guys rumor has it that the new "black box"

will keep a lot of data that may make warranty issues largely in favor of the mfg - i. e. keeping exact data on max and duration table for EGT's, boost and all sorts of other goodies... .....

They might be capable of recording boost, but they won't be getting accurate readings. The boost foolers that are built into the fuel boxes will be sending it false numbers. That's why you don't set over boost codes. As for the EGT's, they don't have a sensor in the manifold to record that.

And what models are you talkin about that have these black boxes??? 03, 04, 04. 5, 05???



I know the trucks have the black boxes in them NOW but they are for accident report info. As far as I know... UNLESS YOU allow them to read that box... They can NOT by law use anything against you from that box. Falls under invasion of privacy.

there is a lot more built into the black box than you can imagine..... all for future use... ... . i. e. with right antenna gps tracking etc... . time on station.

hammersley, Nothing new even your 2001 can do all that. DC just plugs it in to your truck and it can tell them everything. Even the top speed of your truck and what time and day. RPMS, mileage and a lot of other goodies.

Dodge couldnt get into the fueling maps on the 98. 5s to 02s. Cummins could. Last I heard.

There's a program for firetrucks from Cummins for the ISB that has even more then the RV program, that's the one I want.

There use to be in the past, but they got shut down from doing it. There are some out there, but VERY few and far between, and you won't hear about them on here.
