I had an 01' that went back to the dealership once... yes only once for a lift pump and VP-44 replacement. I got to see the bill for these pricey little items and I freaked even though it was still under warranty and traded it for the 04. 5 I'm currently driving. The truck was silver, this one's patriot blue. Had rail dust in the paint been repainted 4 times and still not right. NOW I have to battle this Lemon Law crap to get them to buy this bondo buggy back(with all due respect to the 325/600 CTD of course, LOVE this engine). I got my TDR Issue 47 today, read it cover to cover and there it is... the answer to all my problems with the 2nd Gen engine, on pg 170, that beautiful little pusher pump with a life expectancy of 600,000-800,000 miles from DPP. HOW OBLIVIOUS CAN I BE???? That was the answer all along so, TDR Members you may kick me at will I DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :{

What is the problem with the paint?

Is it still rust?

If not and you just don't like the repaint, I am afraid you don't have much of a lemon law case.

A repaint will never look like the factory freash paint unless you do a complete repaint and start removing the cab and bed from the frame and taking every out then repainting and putting it back together.

Sorry not going to happen under warranty like that.

I would not hold out much hope of a lemon law case over the paint if the repaint cured the rust problem.

The problem was when I bought this truck it had "rail dust" rusting in the paint from bumper to bumper. It's been repainted completely once and some body panels painted 4 times for finger prints, buffing swirls, runs, and dirt under the paint.

Although DC is ultimately responsible if the truck came in with this dust, the auto body people are obviously doing a half-*** job. I had to take my truck back 9 times (my fault, not DC's) for them to get it right. Ride DC and the body shop day and night if you have to.

I agree. however the bodyman/painter I know does wonderful work and factory good. problem with good quality work they will not last as long as factory paint. I know what you mean. I have seen many shotty jobs, guys that do not take pride in their work. I have only 1 guy that I will paint my vehicles, and its not me I do not do work that is up to my standard, having 10+ years in the biz before dc ,I will let him do my work at his home. sounds as if the paint work after the fact is bad ,you need to find a new painter/dealer. I must ask ,don't take it wrong. but why do you keep letting them paint if they do bad work? :confused:
