Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) OK, now what?

I am having hesitation problems with my HO 5. 9.

Getting some white smoke and no throttle. THis problem is intermittant.

At 1500 rpm in 3rd or 4th gear, I have no throttle response, then it will kick in lick a mule.

I have changed the fuel filter. I have replaced the supply pump with the NAPA part. I have changed the air filter.

(I have even removed the VanAken box in anticipation of dealer work)

Any other suggestions; before I take it 60 miles to the nearest dealer?

have you checked codes? on a 01 cycle the key 3 times without starting the engine. codes will appear in the spedo window. if you get a 0216. bad news ,injection pump(vp-44)

ok now what

P0500 No vehicle speed sensor signal. No vehicle speed sensor signal detected during road load conditions. P1693-DTC Detected in companion module. A fault has been generated in the companion engine module. There are two for P1693. second one: DTC detected in PCM/ECM or DTC detected in ECM Hope that helps. I'll have to go read the book to see what I'm talking about.
