Well, I don't own one, but might be inclined to purchase one soon if this is true. Will a 2500 4x4 quad cab fit in a parking garage? I need to know, might be changing jobs, and want to still have a truck, but I know that my club cab dually will not fit.

Thanks 2nd Gen guys,

Russell

I have a flat cap (see signiture. ) on the bed and I've been in garages with 6'8" clearance. Turning radius is a bit wide sometimes, but if you plan you path right you shouldn't have a problem getting around.

Four days after taking delivery on the truck I drove to Chicago. The hotel's garage started on the 3rd floor of a building (retail below). While traversing up the spiral ramp, my driver's side front tire was very near the curb while at the same time the passanger rear was nearly rubbing too (a dually would not have made it). If I recall this garage had a 6'7" clearance (no cap at this time).

Measure the height of the truck first!

I fit my other truck in the garage no problem, but there were garages that I could not fit into. Heights also vary a lot. I have seen garages with 5'5" clearance.

Thanks!

As per my sig, I have a first gen club cab dually, and if I were to get this job, it might be a good excuse to get a newer truck. I want a 3500 QC but I have to be realistic so that would limit my choice to a 2500 QC 4x4 short bed. Thanks for your help!

I work downtown Denver and park in a garage. I have several inches of clearance! My antenna sometimes hit some of the signs... . and then I know I only a few inches of clearance.

The first time I took my truck in... I was very:eek: . But now, after a year and a half... no problem.

I won't try anything lower than 6' 10" clearance. I was going to school at night. The truck fit in the parking structure. Sure got a lot of looks as I idled up the three levels.

my 2500 4x4 QC SWB......

well now, there are some places i just won't take mine. i'm more worried about the overhead clearance. the garage at my work is 7 ft. so i can make it, but i won't try anything less. i took my wife's caravan (sssshhhhhhhh) to philly last year cuz some of the garages were only 5' 10" clearance.....

I, too, repeatedly park mine in garages with 6' 8" clearance. I've rubbed the roof of the truck on a support in one with less (why they put a speed bump in *just the right* spot for that is beyond me). As far as parking space widths, you might end up with some door dings... our trucks are w-i-d-e. It's not always easy to get them in lil' ol' parking spaces in garages, much less actually get out of the things and not rub your clothes up against the mud and dirt on the sides (or am I the only one who doesn't wash his truck regularly?). All things to consider, no doubt.

I have no lift on my 4x4 (YET) and am running the 265/75/16 Michelins. I'll say this... in Houston, it does affect your parking choices...

HTH.

WIdth wise, I can just barely fit into the parking garage. I go up to the roof (6 floors) becaue I can take up two spots and no one cares. So far my record for setting off car alarms is 17, but taht was with my V-10. the diesel only sets off 1 car.

You guys are too much...car alarms!

Thanks again for the great info. The regulation in D. C. where I will have to go is 6'8" so I still might try it with a good friends truck, don't know yet. I'm even crazy enough to take my 92' 1-ton dump regular cab back to a pick-up :D  :p

3500 QC

If you want the 3500 QC look into dodge's new 3500 SRW QC. That could be the answer to your question on what to buy.

Heck yeah

Big Green goes to work with me everyday in your garden variety multi-level parking garage and I park it next to Hondas-I got it off of the lot in December and I told the salesman the test drive would be straight to the garage to see if I can get it in there - the DMAX 2500 4x4 QC that I DIDN'T BUY had fit the day before but I didn't know about the dually- IT FITS- the fun thing is that the CTD in the garage sends people scrambling holding their ears and when it rumbles by all the car alarms give the warning chirp and the floor shakes!!!!!!

Who finds themselves ducking as they drive through those things?:eek: I do. :eek: I try to avoid them - a bump at the wrong place could be a real :{ :{

Like the others said, check the clearances. Mine doesn't fit where the wife works now. Some are ok in the beginning and lose heigth as you go. Watch for low pipes, especially ones added after the garage was originally built. I was in one in Baltimore years ago, and had no problem on first floor but lost clearances as I went and those sprinkler pipes were close.

Low Ceilings

I've got 2 inches of clearance- the suspension is so stiff I go over the speed bumps in there and nothing- maybe I will do a two inch lift and really tempt fate!!!
