All of a sudden my remote control mirrors, radio and dome lights won't work. I looked at the fuses and can't seem to find any that are bad. What am I missing?

reconstructive shoulder surgery... ... so I am not as quick to get to the posts... . but thanks so far... . now a couple of questions..... 1. why its there a cover on the IOD, and what is the secret to removing it. 2. what is IOD. and... 3... . removing... ... help me removing what exactly..... btw. . IOD is "ignition off drain", stuff that pulls current all the tuime. I think the fuse might be in the little fuse panel on left end of dash? bg

... . it's there for long term storage use. Pull it, and there is no battery drain. It has a plastic cover to keep the fuse in place without losing it. If it got blown, it will be difficult to see with the cover..... I'll try to get a pic tomorrow if you are still confused.

Thanks.....

looking forward to the photo.....

The fuse is marked 'radio' and is located to the left of the dash under the side window defroster. Its a mini fuse... . dont remember the amps but it wasn't very high.

Here's pictures from my '96, so you're IOD fuse might be in a slightly different location in the fuse panel on the driver's end of the dash. However, it will be the one with the bracket around it to make it easy to pull for extended storage (or shut off that stupid "key in ignition" buzzer when working on something).

Yep, it's a bit different. The encasing capsule is a bit different than the older trucks, too..... :D You'll see in the second pic, the top folds over to retain the fuse. It just snaps in place, and can be opened and pulled over from the front after pulling outward. I'd suggest some needle nosed pliers and a 90 degree pick or screwdriver to lift the top if you have large hands... .

Great photos and help

I was just looking and wondered how the stupid thing opens... . now why do they do this... . what's so special about these fuses?

Well, it's for long term storage. If you park this truck for more than 30 days(?) they recommend you pull this fuse to prevent battery drainage. I can't remember how many the FSM recommends..... It may be 90 days... . the same recommendations apply for the 2003 and later trucks, which are prone to dash drains. Pulling this fuse essentially keeps the radio, dome lights, and anything else in the cab from electricity that may drain the battery charge during long term storage... ... considered, from the factory, anything over 90 days IIRC.
