Ok so guess what engine I get assigned

we actually had enough tools to go through and pull the heads off today and gonna go through them next week. My engine is pretty easy except for the fact that everytime I get one thing done I have to go the other side and do it again. . stupid V8's... . lol... .

Glad I didn't get stuck with a v8! Anyway, with two three hour work periods down my motor is sitting as a block, crank, cam and pistons (pan is still on, we have a retarded engine stand) looks like I may get to tear the turbo itself down (most groups are supposed to simply remove there) because I dumped a half quart of oil out of it when I pulled it off... . Oh well, I love this stuff, can't wait till I actually have a decent vehicle of my own to work on

I took the diesel program at Hutch last year. That was a BIG waste of time. We didn't tear down any engines till about October. And the instructor spent 75% time on the phone.



And Snap-on was late with all our tools too. Needless to say the local Snap-on rep wasn't worth much.

Well, you cant take a quality motor, or motors apart with stanley tools! I can't recall the last time I found a tool to get to the delivery valves at Sear's, or Home Depot. Snap On has alot of tools that no one else carries. the saying "you get what you pay for" applies to Snap On. . Spend alot, and you will get alot!

I can get the same tools from Mac for a two thirds of the price. Or go to Craftsman and pay half. Snap on is a rip, if you want to pay, go ahead.

Mac Snap-on and Craftsman are just like Ford Dodge and Chevy to me. Everybody chooses one or the other for their own personal preference.

Ok first I never intended to start a tool war. Everyone has there own preferences. I think it is safe to say that the big tool makers ... Craftsman, Snap-On, Mac, and a few others are all good tools or they none of them would be in buisness still. So lets not go there guys.

BTW they did finally deliver a about half of the tools late last week so we finally are gettin started...

Double check and make sure they sent everything they said they shipped. A buddy didn't catch it last year and played hell getting his tools.

like i said before i am not worried about my tools not all being there i didnt go throught the sales rep for snap on. infact 99% of my tools are craftsman.

i don't know if you'd call an EMD diesel engine or a GE diesel a quality engine, but i use sorta junk [in my opinion] tools every day. proto [same company as stanley], gray, westward, armstrong are the wrenches and sockets that i have in my toolbox at work. now not all the tools i have are total junk, but the westward's are the cheapest feeling of the ones i have. the proto armstrong and gray ones are ok. i only have 1 snapon wrench in my box and it is a half moon 3/4"x5/8" box wrench.



oh and a little pet peive of mine is the proper use of engine or motor. your vehicles have both. there is the internal combustion engine, and there is starter motors, heater blower motors, power window motors...

Give me a basic set of quality tools, a welder, a mill, and a lathe. If I need a tool, I make it.
