Just a word of caution, there are two possible senders. I remembered this from years back so we really need your ESN or truck serial number. Some were replaced with another number and required a short jumper harness.
There are threads from '09 and back that mention this. I THINK that 4921511 replaced the existing sender without modification but all speculation without your ESN.

When mine went out a year or so ago on my 99 ,electrically/instrument wise the genos was a direct replacement. The socket sizes were different and the sender is a PITA to get to. I remembered of the possible 2 different senders but was assured the genos would work and it did. Of course there could always be the gotcha and the ESN would verify that so sending Mike the info is probably the safe thing to do.

Cummins 3408428. Should be @ $60.00 from Cummins.

I apologize for posting possibly incorrect information.

Being the 12V guy that I am I was not aware of the sensor change. The number I quoted above is the current part number for '98.5 to at least '01 24V's. The original number should be 3329619 which changed to 3348749 which now has changed to 3408428.

The number Mike quoted, 4921511, shows to be no longer available and has been changed to 4326849, which is the one Geno's is selling.

I did find the following:

TSB020013 Midrange Oil Pressure Switch Release

Issue:The purpose of this Early Warning is to highlight the release of the midrange oil pressure switch. The switch was released on April 8, 2002. The ESN first for CMEP built engines is 56913179, and the ESN first for CDC built engines is 46202315.

Verification:

ISB/QSB, ISC/QSC and ISL/QSL

This is the step 6 fix (final fix) for the midrange oil pressure sensor issues. Symptoms of the oil pressure sensor failures include the logging of fault codes 141, 143, and 415. The triggering of dash lights accompanied with these fault codes and the triggering of engine protection shutdown on vehicles with this feature enabled are also associated with this issue.

If the engine shows signs similar to the above symptoms, verify oil pressure with a manual gauge. Compare that reading to the monitor parameter in INSITE™ with the engine running. If the readings are different, follow the repair procedure.

This issue has been investigated and found to be the result of internal sensor issues. To prevent additional aggravation to customers from repeated sensor failures, and to improve the robustness of the oil pressure monitoring system, Cummins Inc. has released an oil pressure switch.

Damage can occur to the engine if the current sensor fails and is unable to detect engine oil pressure. The damage could include internal engine failure.

Resolution:
Included in each of the jumper harness kits is Installation Bulletin, 3377931, which details the installation of the new oil pressure switch. A recalibration is also required for all engines being upfitted with the new switch. All the calibrations were available as of the May, 2002 Incal CD. For industrial calibrations, consult the midrange folder on the CD for a cross-reference from the old calibration number to the new calibration number. All industrial calibrations required for the oil pressure switch will be found under the specific industrial product selection, and not under their automotive counterparts.

I'm a little fuzzy as it has been a while but I believe that this is the deal...

3408428 is a valid part number BUT requires a re-flash and makes the gauge function like an idiot light...either you show 40lbs of oil pressure or you show 0lbs......

4326849 is the best replacement and will continue to send valid readings to the gauge. I think that's why Geno's went with that one as well.

This really should be posted somewhere as time goes on. If you simply look up the sender you get sent down the garden path.

Ok here's what I have found out in my area. Napa $273 one in stock. Dodge Chrysler dealer $305 be in in 3-5 days this is where I bought the truck - my local independent Cummings mechanic wants $594 to change it out -this includes one hour labor to do a mechanical oil pressure check which I thought was not a bad idea. And one hour labor to change it by dropping the starter so 2 hours labor and $$374 for oil pressure switch said it was only one in town of 300 k people and major Cummins dealer here price for switch was $14 and $26 wiring adapter from my engine serial number so $40 total for part

So what's wrong with the Indy Cummins mechanic ? Is it a gouge job or a true mistake. I have used him before and thought I trusted him but now I'm not so sure

I changed mine in less than 1 hour at a very relaxed pace from the Drivers side top. It can be done without removing anything. A long sleeve shirt would be helpful.

The starter does not need to be touched-

Very interesting information. So how long do you think it takes with a Manuel oil pressure gauge to check oil pressure. I was told one hour. On the starter I was told that it was the easiest way to get to the sensor .So on warranty 24 minutes to changeout. Very interesting information
