Don't want to beat this to death but ... I have read that the oil level should be 3/4" +/- 1/4" (10. 5" rear end) and that overfilling will cause foaming. I checked my and found the level to be a good inch below the hole. I put a quart in it and now is at the hole level. I will be towing cross country soon and need to know if this will be a problem. What is the real answer for fluid level and will filling to the hole really cause foaming??? Thanks.

I'd siphon or pump the excess oil out of the diff to bring it within spec. If DC didn't care where the level was they wouldn't put it in the manual. Re the foaming, I don't know.

I've made two trips from Tampa to Pensacola Florida and several 200 mile trips with the 5th wheel after topping it off to the fill hole with Valvoline full synthetic 75-90 15,000 miles ago. I haven't seen any signs of trouble or heard any strange noise.

I've been getting silent counseling and group therapy by myself in hopes of curing myself of all this worry over nothing. :p
