OK,Transfer Flow vs Aero...ANY differences???

On my 97, I bought an Aero midship 60 gallon tank. It was nice to have the extra fuel, but I was not impressed with the fuel sending seal ring/fuel sender mod, and it stuck out from the bottom of the truck like a sore thumb #ad

Now Transfer Flow offers a 54 gallon model, but it looks identical to the one I had, and costs more with less space. #ad

Can ANYONE out there give me some impressions, likes/dislikes, the way they are built, looks, etc.
If there really isn't much difference, then I may go to Aero again because it's only 2. 5 hrs away vs 6 hrs, and I probably will do my own install (did the last one, not too terribly hard). NOBODY is yet worthy to touch MY new truck... yet!!!

I was on my back for quite a while Saturday checking out Dave Perea's new 54 gal. Transfer Flow fuel tank while at DTT. This is a VERY HIGH QUALITY product... and worth every penny (IMO). I will be purchasing one in the very near future (i. e. , before the introductary price expires). Dave said the installation was very straight forward, also stating he didn't have to drill any holes in his frame as is the case with the Aero Tanks 60 gal. replacement tank. Others have complained about the lack of quality from Aero Tanks in the past. Look at it this way, 25 more gal. of fuel (over stock)/lower price/lower product quality/more difficult installation (not to mention the new holes in your frame) OR 19 more gal. of fuel (over stock)/very high product quality/relatively easy installation/no new holes in your frame/ and you are still able to remove the transmission/transfer case without having to drop the tank... which would you choose? Ya, me too. #ad

Thanks for the responses... it helps.
Transfer Flow's website doesn't show squat on the new tank setup (pictures). Tried to blow up the one and only picture on the site... horrible.
Transfer Flow... if your monitoring, PUT SOME DECENT PICTURES on the web!!!
It may make decisions a bit easier for people wondering.

What about looks??? Does it hang down like the Aero???

About 6 weeks ago there was a thread on this topic. I have the Transfer Flow and feel it is the highest quality, strong, excellent welds, etc. My writeup will appear in the next TDR. Yes it hangs down a bit, as I discussed in the previous thread. However, I don't feel it hangs down too much for four wheeling or looks bad. I found the installation very easy and fast, and the sending unit fit is excellent. However, if the Aero hung down too much for you, you will have to stick with a stock tank as the extra fuel capacity has to go somewhere.

The transfer flow 54 gal tank only fits 98. 5 and above. I sent them email and asked about the tank for 97 year. They responded with its in process. Said something about the fill tube being different and requiring different setup.

The filler is different on the 1994-7 but if you want the Transfer Flow tank, there are a couple ways to deal with it. I heated and bent the vent line on the filler neck to angle it forward like on the 98-up necks. Then a piece of 3/4" fuel hose will connect the 97 steel vent line to the tank vent. The filler on the tank is 1. 5" as was used by Dodge 98-up, and the 97-back is 1. 75". A short piece of 1. 5" ID hose and a steel adapter works with a cut off piece of the original 1. 75" ID hose. Transfer Flow has most of the stuff in stock and as they said they are working on a complete, easy to install kit. When I got my tank I forgot to tell them my truck was a 1997 but they were most helpful in working out the differences with me so I could get a successful installation with very minimal hassle. Just another case where Dodge messed with their design between model years for no reason I can figure out other than to make life harder for us #ad

Sincerely... thanks for the response. It was unexpected and welcomed. Any company that actually takes things seriously on another web site is DEFINITELY doing their homework.
To respond this quickly to someone that doesn't even own your product (yet) is unparalleled in todays' society.

Unbeleivable... I honestly solicited NO info from Transfer Flow, but the response blew me away!!! These guys are good, and they will soon have some of my hard earned green.

That's exactly the kind of company that I like dealing with. Last year I requested a set of installation instructions from Transfer Flow for their 38 gal. auxiliary aft of axle fuel tank so I could see what I was up against if I decided to go this route. They sent the installation instructions to me as promised although, I ultimately decided to pass on this particular setup as I really wanted a larger replacement tank (I had heard they were designing one then). As they say, good things come to those who wait... and now they produce exactly what I want. #ad


Regarding how far the bottom of the tank hangs down on the 54 gal. replacement tank... it doesn't seem like it's more than an inch lower than stock, in other words, it's a non issue.

I have the Aero Tank in my truck. I had it installed while I was in the area several months ago. I would have liked it to have been thicker metal. I don't even notice the tank as the Westin side bars blend it in. Doesn't hang down as low as the older models. So far I am happy.

Looks like a heavy unit. I wish they made one just a tad smaller. Hey, speaking of Photopoint, are you guys going to continue using it now that they are going to start charging? I doubt I would use it enough to make it worth while.

I have a 50 gal. Aero tank in my bed and I hated it the minute I took it out of the box. The quality is very poor and there customer service is even worse.
I didn't use any of the plumbing or sending unit that came with it. I set up a pump to transfer fuel into my original tank.
