My Friend is a heavy equipment repair man and he uses a ambulance as his service truck and we have been looking to upgrade it and finally did. Just got a '96 fl60 with a 210hp 12v p pump 5. 9L and allision 6spd transmission, air ride etc. . he does not plan to tow with it just haul all his tools & parts around... but both of us mod our trucks now and definately want to mod this rig ... thing is it weighs about 19,900 supposedly according to the seller. . how much abuse can the 6 spd auto take?... it looks like a electronic transmission as it has a push pad indicator etc... we we figuring a #6 plate or so 370's delivery valves, gsk kit, guages, a piers hx40 turbo... what do you think that will do power / torque wise? Either too much for the transmission or for pulling that weight all day... . first we need to drive it back from austin texas to poughkeepsie ny . . looks like a looooonggg weekend of driving ha

it was on ebay #1672794984... any ideas would be great.

I think you may be too hot with all your mods. First get the numbers off of the tag for the pump spec. If you want it idiot proof where you don't need to watch the EGT you are probably talking about 325 - 350 HP, 750 - 850 or better torque. Also need the info on the Allison. I know the 3126 CAT Allison combo on FL-60 has 800 Ft-Lbs or better capacity on the trans, so you might have plenty of room on the transmission, the tag will tell.

With the weight you are talking about, over 350 hp in a pull and you will have to watch the EGT like a hawk and back out of it to keep it safe. Better to build it all the way to where it will keep itself in line and stop there. That is where you would end up anyway controlling it with your foot. Due to the weight, even a short burst to pass would put it in danger with EGT if it was overbuilt. Just a thought. Keep in mind the 210hp is rated to 56,000 gvw by Cummins, so definitely can do some good bombing. Bombs away:D

Don't know torque specifacations for trans but I would think the allisons going into Freightliners would be all the same.

Most emergency/rescue/ firetruck applications use the allison and I believe that the hp is 275 standard. Also motor homes with the ctd are 275 hp and most come with the allison.

At least 98/99 Frieghtliners used as fire dept vehicles were 275 hp. (According to the brochures).

the year is 1996 supposedly it is rated at 210hp at 2500rpm . . but i'm not 100% sure if they sent me the right info. it may be a little while to know too , as we have to either fly down and drive it back or ship it by truck back. does any one have a estimate on shipping cost from austin tx to poughkeepsie ny area code 12540? we're debating 2 airline tickets, fuel, and food for 2- 2 1/2 days of driving...

can any one look up a vin # for us? 1FV3GFACXTL697785

maybe that tells the power and transmission codes?... and rear end ratio etc

as for egts i know you gotta watch em mummn the truck will have full guages. . maybe make some twins but keep em wastegated at like 60 psi so the head gasket lasts . that ought to keep egts in check hehe... . As for the exhuast i wonder if these come with exhaust brakes? if not it is gonna be a 4" remote mount bd and may be, if we can fit it, a 5" stack up the front of the box... no muffler of course
