To all vets...

There are 2 44 Mags... . one Large Frame with 6 shots and Ported... . other Tracker with 5 shots and ported... . and the 357 Mag - same large frame as the 6 shot 44 and ported BUT with 8 Holes

Now can the Tracker 44 take HEAVY Buffale Bore 44 mags - I mean these ones with 1200" Ft Lbs????and my real dilema..... do I want 8 shots of heavy 357 or 6 of 44???? And I know if I'm ever chased with something big - the 44 would be better - but I'm thinking 8 of the 357 would be nasty also... ... which way to go?????

Buffalo Bore... .

the 6 shot 44 is the only way to go. i like a longer barrel, for longer range shots. in brushy areas i do most of my hunting with a s&w 29 with a 8 3/8 barrel and have taken several bear with it

If your intended use is as a wilderness revolver, then I say go . 44 w/ a shorter barrel. I think the Taurus can handle the heavy loads, but If you're really worried, get a Ruger :D. I'm very partial to the newer 4" Redhawks.

Ditto.

With 300 gr. bullet and the accuracy a long pipe imparts, you may not have to run away as much. The percieved recoil is greater with big bullets, but if held as you would hold your wife's/GF's hand, the long barrel allows it to just rock back quite gently. The REDHAWK may have the stronger frame,

but I use factory loads in my S&W 29.

44 mag is my vote. I use a Dan Wesson . 44 as my wilderness gun. Came with two barrels. The 4" is to carry in a holster and the 6" is for longer distance stuff on the shooting range, etc. Either way, I'd take 6 . 44s over 8 . 357s any day. Just have to make the shots count!

I would go with the . 44, but you have to practice with the B. B. ammo. I shoot the 325 gr. 45 Colt out of my Blackhawk and it a handfull. Don't try to hold the gun down, just let it climb.

I love my Taurus Tracker . 44 mag, but it doesn't do well with 300 gr bullets. The cylinder is a little short for the long bullets and you have to watch the OAL of the rounds you use in the Tracker. That said, the porting is amazingly effective and I have shot some HOT 240 gr loads out of mine with no problems. With factory 240 gr . 44 mag loads, the Tracker is a pleasure to shoot.

This is mine a 4" KRH-444 Ruger and ammo, I don't think you can get anything better to shoot then this ammo in this pistol.
