Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) old brain, no memory

I just dropped my '94 off at my "5 Star" dealer with an oil leak about the front cover seal. I've been hearing noise the last few days like maybe the pin under the front cover has come out, and is rattling around in there. My dealer never heard of the pin and I can't remember. I told him I knew someone that did and I would get back to him. Please tell me about the d*&^& pin and what it is for. I need to call him as soon as possible.
