Dear Summit Racing Customer,

Your hobby is in danger! Proposed U. S. government legislation, U. S.

Senate Bill S. 1766, would allocate federal funds for state scrappage

programs

for vehicles more than 15 years old. In the process, it could threaten

the

very existence of our hobby by:

*Destroying 1960s and 70s era musclecars

*Scrapping 1980s performance vehicles like Mustangs, Camaros, and

Corvettes

*Eliminating many non-performance vehicles which provide an invaluable

parts

source

Take a stand for your rights--and your hobby--by letting your U. S.

Senator

know how this bill will directly affect you. Log onto our website at

http://www.SummitRacing.com for a copy of our Legislator Letter, which

you

can print, sign, and mail to your Senator. Then, go to

http://www.enjoythedrive.com/san for a complete list of legislator

names and

addresses, plus additional information on U. S. Senate Bill S. 1766.

Act now--your hobby may depend on it!

California tried this several years ago, it didn't fly. Hope it doesn't happen, it will wipe out half my fleet and 75% of the cars in Montana.

Lot of it

A lot of it comes from new car dealers and manufactuers. It is the same as our anti-poluttion laws. They are based on the age of the car and the amount of money you spend on it, Not how much pollution they put out.

Case in point my 79 Triumph Spitfire. I live in a non-emisions county of Colo. When I went to sell this car to some kids who lived in a emissions county they had it tested. Of course this car is missing Cat, air pump, and all emissions equipment. Mainly because of age and lack of air pump replacement. Well I had tuned and checked emissions level in my shop and knew it was in compliance ( according to my tester). But when they took it to a certified shop for testing (another scam), it would not pass because of lack of orginal equipment! The kids being in law enforcment would not register it down here and drive it up there because of liability. So back the car came. They really loved the car to. They ended up buying a Brand new Mustang GT, which I know cost them a he11 of a lot more.

I drive my Spitfire daily to work and back, plus go on runs to the mountains with the local Triumph club. What worries me, is that sooner or later these emission laws will come my way to. I would either have to go out and buy all new vehicles or forge emissions stickers and shoot anyone who goes under my vehicle!

I do like the idea of the latter, however the cost of soap on a rope does worry me... ... .
