Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) old man needs muffler and tailpipe

my dad's muffler and tail pipe rotted out on his 2002 2500. is there any other alternitaves then OEM? he wants to keep the noise level stock. probally a cat back system would be best. thanks!. . james

I have a friend who is very pleased with the sound level of his Maganaflow... though he says it cetainly doesn't soound stock. I have heard the single MBRP and that's not too loud... good tone and no drone on the 02 I heard it on. How's your silent might for sound compared to stock? I have two local shops that have mandrel bent piping and will build your exhaust with whatever muffler and tips you want. You may be able to have a shop build an exhaust with a silent might installed and have as close to possible a stock sound level with better performance and a cheaper price tag. Depends on whether or not you need Stainless or you're fine with Aluminized Steel.

he is a real winer! it will need to be as close to stock as possible. as far as the silent might goes: i love it. it's louder at idle but on the highway it's real close to stock. he would be happy with a silent might but the 02's arn't a 4 inch system. just realized this is in the 12 valve section. it's been a while since i've lurked around in this section. if any moderatorssee this please move it to the appropiate section. thanks

Im sure you could find someone with a stock 3" tail pipe assy they pulled off in favor of a 4". Heck, I would sell you my complete 3" with no cat and a quiet walker muffler if the shipping wouldn't be so expensive!!!



The 3" walker muffler is pretty quiet, I can hear it over the motor ever. no drone, and quiet outside. forgot how much it cost, but I think its only 40$ or so.

I have a magnaflow straight-thru muffler in a Pinnacle exhaust system. Works really nice, only drones a little at 1900rpm, no resonator or cat in the system. bought it thru ebay 3yrs ago for about 320 i believe. .
