I think we need to pay our respects here to Frank. TDR posted the terrible news in this forum so I intend to follow up with my feelings on the subject.
First of all, Frank goes back. He's a vet of this site. His real handle was "Old School". That's a sweet handle that represented his love of his early gen truck. Later he informed us about his upgrade to a second gen 12v truck he purchased. Well, as you can imagine, "Old School" didn't fit anymore. He started to go by his given name after that. I was happy to see that he sucessfully campaigned for the administrater position as the site grew. He was even handed and I can't recall any tiffs involving his handling of TDR business.
He used to speak of surfing. That's something that I can identify with since I'm on the beach here in HMB and he was on the other coast tellin' stories about headin' out to catch the big ones after the storms passed through. I even sent him a tape of the Mavericks big wave surf competition here in the HMB area.
From what contact I had, Frank was the guy you wished lived next door, or was in your family.
I happen to remember he had a post office box with a number of about 15 or something like that. I kidded him about being a lifer in that town, he said he knew someone at the PO : )
I'm very truly sorry to hear the terrible news of Frank's passing. Although I did not ever meet the man, I still feel confident that I can accurately convey several aspects of his personality. He had a very pleasant sense of humor which had he and I going back and forth several night via email. He had a genuine interest in his truck which would create a bond with just about anyone here on this forum.
My evening has come to a premature close as I try to adjust to the news of Frank's departure. I can only hope that wherever he is now, that he will be blessed with something that will give him as much enjoyment as his shiney steed.
