I have the old transmission and torque converter out of my 97 3500 CTD after I put a DTT transmission in. The return shipping was more than the core charge so I kept it. It has 200,000 miles on it and the transmission shop said it was shifting fine when I had it changed out. So my question is it worth selling and what should I ask for it.

Seeing as how they do not make the NV4500 or the NV5600 anymore and there is no one making OEM parts for these, the answer would be a resounding yes. There are some after market parts but they are just not of the OEM quality of fit and finish. It would even be worth keeping just in case your present transmission goes out. The price of anything OEM on these NV transmissions is out of site.

I think he is talking about an automatic.

Put it on craigslist, there's bound to be somebody out there with a blown transmission looking to pick one up. Maybe even call around to the local transmission shops, if they are running low on cores for that model you might be able to sell it to them or barter some labor for your truck?

Well duh, looks like i dun red it reel gud. Look at the bright side, got a free entry in the drawing for "retard of the month" club. :-laf

I kept my old transmission and when my current one goes out ill have it rebuilt for and easy one day swap. You should just keep it if you have the room.
